An LTF has been established in each of the 29 Intermediate Units (I.U.'s)
in PA. The LTF is an advocacy group of parents, educators, and agency representatives.
A primary responsibility is monitoring of special education classes. Contact
your local Intermediate Unit for the name of the chairperson of your local
LTF.

special needs, brings groups together and uses the power of all families to
bring about change in the community, county and state.
Pennsylvania Statewide Independent Living
Council (PASILC)
The Pennsylvania Statewide Independent Living Council is a statewide council
established by federal mandate and a Pennsylvania Statute. It consists of
15 voting members, who are appointed by the Governor. Other members include
ex-officio representatives of the Division of Voc Rehab and Blind Services
and the Pennsylvania Spinal Cord Injury Resource Center. In compliance with
state law, a majority of the voting members are persons with disabilities.
Additional representatives are from Centers for Independent Living, Advocacy,
other consumer or independent living organizations and various state agencies
that are impacted by Title VII of The Rehabilitation Act.
The Pennsylvania Statewide Independent Living Council exists to use its collective
power and legal mandate to develop and secure public policies that ensure
civil rights and expand options for all people with disabilities in all aspects
of life.
